An act worthy of his own main slot at the Dome.

On Wednesday 25th October, fans packed into Doncaster Dome to see Northern Irish trio Two Door Cinema Club, however, whilst their set was clearly fantastic, we're here to talk about his support act, Sam Scherdel.
Sam is a local lad from Doncaster, himself along with his band James Cook on drums, Andrew Beal and Luke Porthouse on guitar and Sam Barton on bass - they have an impressive log of songs and have been featured on BBC Introducing a number of times and it's easy to see why.
The range of songs is incredible, personal favourites for me include 'The Answer', 'The boy who fell to Earth' and 'Don't really like you' for me - but his music not only has great riffs and tunes, but deep, meaningful lyrics too.
I've seen Sam and co perform a few times this year, notably at Askern Music Festival and the Leadmill, but there was something different about this gig.

Sam absolutely smashed his set, with the crowd got more engrossed in Sam's performance, with each song, singing some songs back to him and you could see how much it meant as his face lit up, hearing them go 'How the devil you doing' back was something special.

I caught up with Sam after his set and it's clear he was blown away, you can listen below:

Not only that though, the entire evening was captured by the talented Kai Undrell as you can see here:

There's more to come from Sam though this year, his next gig is at Gorilla Beer Hall with Harri Larkin as support.

It's been a brilliant year for Sam and it wouldn't surprise me if you see him popping up more at festivals next year.
If you want to listen to his music, which I highly recommend you do, you can do so here:
Sam is on my list of ones to watch for 2024, watch this space.
